Gimme Back My Song Ep 9

There are lots of great songs in this world. In their original form they are unique and represent a place in time for the composer and the listener. Years (or sometimes, days!) later, someone comes along and wants to do their own version of that song. In episode 9 of our cover versions show Gimme Back My Song we journey from the 60s through the millennium to hear how the other guy did it. Your job is to name the original artist. Have pen and paper handy for notes and a pop quiz after lunch.

Blue Highway Ep 9 (Country Hits of the 60s)

Country music did something pretty rebellious while the British Invasion, Motown and the Summer of Love happened: it ignored them all. And you know what, that might be for the better. In episode 9 of Blue Highway we focus on all the songs that topped the C & W charts, (and, in some cases, crossed over into the pop charts), from 1960-69. Expect lots of solid tunes by people wearing suits with bolo ties, shined loafers, bouffant hairdos and perfect eye make-up to go with their twangy accents. Torches will be lit!
