Client: Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, University of Southern California
Category: Brand Identity

Keeping It Real Together (KIR-T) is a multi-agency collaborative that works to reduce and prevent teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases in Los Angeles County through school-based sexual health education, parent workshops, improved access to health services, and community involvement. In order to streamline the brand development process while making sure all 12+ participating agencies had a voice, The Think Farm worked with a core team of four stakeholders who in turn communicated with and consolidated feedback from the rest of the stakeholders. We worked to clarify KIR-T’s mission, messaging, and audience in order to establish its identity and voice.
The font, which is a blocky, handwritten style with a chalk/pencil texture, was selected becasue the core team wanted a typography that was youthful and associated with school. The colorful hands coming together signify collaboration among multiple organizations, community, teamwork, and youth empowerment. The hands have a straight-forward and “standardized” look to communicate lasting reliability. A multi-functional logo system and comprehensive style guide were created to ensure that the brand story remains consistent on all collateral and outgoing communication.
